Ministry of Incorruption

The Ministry of Incorruption is charged with the welfare of the Incorruptible, those Legionnaire citizens who not only can't cast Magic, but also cannot be directly influenced by its spells.   Even with the Space Defense Legion's efforts to minimize reliance on magic, many modern conveniences rely upon Runework. This is most pronounced when Traveling the Void, but even kitchen appliances and home security and entertainment systems often use magic to keep costs down and reliability high.   Additionally, the Body of Consultants has found many niche professions for those completely immune to magic's effects, many of them in direct support of the Legion's continued defense in their war against the Sparnell Confederation. Seeing to the needs of the Incorruptible is therefore also justified as a means of ensuring the Incorruptible will return the favor, should their services be required.

Public Agenda

The Ministry's responsibilities include everything even remotely related to the Incorruptible, from public support programs to private research. As with all government-funded programs, the bulk of the Ministry's documentation and funding are considered public records, unless classified as Personal or Dangerous.

Support Programs

While less necessary in the modern era, the Legion still provides related health and technical support to the Incorruptible, as well as their immediate families, housing partners, and anyone else dealing regularly with the Incorruptible. This includes anything from specialty medical care (since the Incorruptible cannot receive any magic-based treatments) to quality of life improvement vouchers (allowing the Incorruptible to procure specialty appliances with government discounts) to legal and administrative assistance (from the mundane processes of filing for support requests to holding businesses accountable for their obligations to the equality of service and employment to the Incorruptible) to specialized public transportation options.   The Ministry of Incorruption also serves as a consultant on regular accessibility projects by the Ministry of Infrastructure, for both public spaces and private industry.

Certified Tech

The Ministry runs a government-funded certification program for technological devices which can be safely operated by the Incorruptible without risk of malfunction.   As the certification also proves the device free from any reliance on magic (although some still utilize magical options for redundancy), the certification often elevates the product as an elite option, frequently with an elevated price tag to match. Manufacturers of Certified products are therefore required to also enter the Ministry's voucher program, allowing the Incorruptible and their loved ones to procure certified devices at a discount, if they wish to continue using the Certified label.

Incorruptible Research

Research efforts range from historical dives into written records, some dating from even before the War for Enlightenment, to hands on psychological and even physical experimentation in lab settings. All experiment processes themselves are ethical and designed around the safety and well-being of the participating volunteers, although some citizens have voiced concerns as to why researchers are even running the tests in the first place.   Proponents state this an important field of research in the name of equality for all, and that better understanding the condition is required for better treatment and, perhaps someday, a cure. Detractors argue that the Incorruptible receive enough funding already, with the Ministry's budget decided entirely by the Body of Consultants rather than requiring votes by the Body of Appointees like all over government Ministries.   A small but vocal minority questions what the government is even doing with the information, pointing to the large number of experiments with results hidden from the public under the classification "Dangerous," particularly since "Personal" is the more common classification found on sealed medical records.

Stipend Program

The Ministry's Stipend Program was created to incentivize Incorruptible to dedicate their careers to government service. Those who enter the program agree to allow the Body of Government to assign them work on the basis of what is most needed that best aligns with their skills. Personal preferences are also taken into account, although there is no guarantee an individual will be granted their preferred assignment, particularly if a less popular field is struggling with personnel shortages.   In return, the Incorruptible is provided with everything they require for a comfortable life, including housing, health care, education, private transportation, and a generous weekly stipend. These benefits are guaranteed for their entire lives, even past retirement, provided they meet the program requirements.   An individual is eligible to enter the program at any point after their formal diagnosis of Incorruption, regardless of age, although they must be considered able to give their own consent as enrollment is permanent. Many of the perks extending to immediate family members and caretakers, leading parents to convince their Incorruptible children to enroll "for the good of the family."   If enrolled as children, the Ministry will also take charge of the child's education, adding specialized training in the child's eventual career path alongside the standard classes for their age. The Ministry accept enrollments of children as young as six, provided they can explain in their own words – and without a family member or guardian present – why they wish to enroll.

*puts on conspiracy hat* Perhaps they are researching how to make their entire population Incorruptible. *takes off hat*   Really interesting article, but I am side-eyeing them allowing young children to enrol permanently into their programme.

The Legion is great but they are not perfect. They really want as many Incorruptible as possible working for them. This method has proven effective.

Such an interesting idea, focus on taking away magic in a magic based lifestyle. Definitely something I need to explore more in my world, good job :)
