Hydell Order

Adherents of the Hydell Order believe in the divinity of their Ordained Ascended and strive to earn their own rights to ascend. AI formed outside the sanctions of the Ascended Conclave, however, are a blasphemy against the Natural Order and must be destroyed.
Followers of the Order believe mortality is important to the Natural Order, and that one lifetime is more than enough unless honored by the immortal Gods of the Ascended Conclave. The faithful of the Order see themselves as the True Descendants of Fillimet, the mythical, idyllic past of Vazdimet before The War for Enlightenment corrupted society with its forbidden technologies.

Structure

Ascended Conclave

The immortals of the Ascended Conclave holds absolute power over the tenets of the Order, able to dictate everything from the tax rate to the newest religious holiday to the list of those approved to join the Ordained Ascended upon their death. The wealth and prosperity of the Order flows upward, fulfilling the needs of the Conclave first before further distribution to the rest of the Descendents and their needs.

Ordained Ascended

The Ordained Ascended handle the day to day tasks and needs of the Order, with direction as needed from the Conclave. The Ordained are typically Afterlife Intelligences, easily spotted due to their mech suits, each custom tailored to the Ordained's tasks. If reassigned, these suits are updated and altered to better support the new assignment. The Ordained not only control the government but also fill most of the higher ranks within the Order's military structure.

True Descendents

The True Descendents of Fillimet, living their lives in service to the Order in the hopes of being selected for Resurrection as one of the Ordained, fulfill the rest of the needs of the Order. This includes not only the entirety of the enlisted and majority of lower officer positions in the Militant Order of Descendents, but also the small local planetary government offices and the entire civilian population.

Public Agenda

The Hydell Order strives to spread their prosperity and the tenets of their faith across the universe, through any means necessary to save the most souls from damnation. The wanton prevalence of Reconstruction Clones and related technologies is an affront to Natural Order and must be contained, as only the immortal Ascended Conclave can discover which souls are meant to ascend as an Afterlife Intelligence and who is to be relegated to the Afterlife.

History

While the exact details of the Order's rise to power are shrouded in mystery, clues paint the organization as one of many simply fighting to survive the fallout of The War for Enlightenment. Unlike The Freeholds, where each group remained small and insular, the Hydell Order managed to attract others to join their cause, likely due to the promises of protection from the Ascended Conclave. As the passage of time revealed the Conclave's immortality, the Order's leadership gained additional respect, and finally worship, from their original followers' descendants, until the Order eventually became the religious behemoth it is today.

No heritic shall stand against the True Descendants of Fillimet.

I like the little hints about how the idyllic land of Fillimet turned into a spacefaring civilization.

Starkeeper, sci-fi with aliens, posthuman bird-people, and uplifted raccoons!

Thank you!   Eventually I am going to have to talk about the War for Enlightenment and its fallout.

I wish I had somthing to add or more to say. I just wanted to stop in and say awesome work. Loved the article. Space churches are fun and i like how this one focuses on the concepts of mortality and resurrection for the ordained.

I can see why they would feel AI would be an affront to the natural order... but then the hypocrites want to be selected to become AI themselves. XD

Yes, well, you see here... Haha. Yes. I am going to have fun expanding on them in the books eventually, too.
