Ascended Conclave

Hear now our plea
Divine Ascended Host
That we, too, may see your glory!
— Hymn
Members of the Ascended Conclave remember the days of Fillimet before The War for Enlightenment, when each individual lived and died by their own merits without challenging the divine Natural Order. These ancient immortals provide the guidance required to lead the Hydell Order into their rightful rewards as the True Descendants of Fillimet.

Public Agenda

The Ascended Host of the Conclave are the divine beings of the Hydell Order, officially controlling all aspects of the Order and its day to day operations, although the more mundane and less glorious tasks are typically left for a lesser member of the Ordained Ascended to handle instead.   The Great Ascended are especially revered for their determinations of who may be permitted to become one of the Ordained Ascended upon their death. These decisions are typically made prior to each individual's death, often in response to great acts performed in service to the Order, although martyrdom is also an effective strategy for those seeking to make a last ditch effort.

Assets

The wealth of the Hydell Order flows upward, used to adorn the temples and coffers of the Conclave. Adherents of the Order are taught these extravagant spaces serve to draw others in to the worship of the True Gods of Vazdimet, and that their piety and personal sacrifice will gain them the favor of the Conclave and a chance at Resurrection into the Ordained Ascended. The Great Ascended therefore live a particularly lavish lifestyle.

History

The Ascended Conclave predates the Hydell Order, its true beginnings shrouded in the times before The War for Enlightenment and subsequently ensuing age of space. As the influx of technologies led much of the population of Fillimet to welcome advancements, particularly a prevalence in Afterlife Intelligences and Reconstruction Clones, the Conclave gathered together those who railed against these changes in the Natural Order, forging them first into a cult and later the religious Hydell Order. Over time they have adjusted their messaging, patiently molding their adherents to better suit their needs.

This is one of the coolest things about having a future/past set of worlds like you have -- the fact that this group of people remembers Fillimet from before space travel is so fantastic. I really love the last bit too, about how they've adjusted their messaging over the years too, it makes sense that an organization existing for that long would have a sort of slow flexibility. Awesome article :)

Thank you! I've discovered I really enjoy weaving the past and present together. Making Vazdimet the future of Fillimet rather than its own thing was the perfect answer. I don't think it would have turned out half as fun otherwise.

I don't think I like these guys, but I can't really explain why. They kind of freak me out a little.   I love the link to Fillimet though. It's one of my favourite things about your worlds.
