Ideology Officer
As the primary enforcement arm of the Ascended Conclave, both within the Hydell Order and beyond its official boundaries, members of the Militant Order of Descendants are expected to uphold the highest standards of devotion to the Conclave and the Natural Order.
To assist in setting an example for the rest of Vazdimet, particularly their fellow True Descendants, each major Militant unit is therefore assigned an Ideology Officer, whose roles include addressing concerns among their fellow Militants, especially those involving potential violations or crises of Faith.
Roles & Responsibilities
A largely political role, Ideology Officers are responsible for ensuring the religious well-being of all Militant personnel reporting to their direct commanding officer. This includes maintaining the usual reverence toward the Ascended Conclave, upholding the Natural Order, and holding open aspirations at earning a place among the Ordained Ascended. They take the place of the Morale Officers found throughout much of the rest of Vazdimet.Granted Authority
A unit's Ideology Officer is always second in rank only to their immediate commanding officer, granting them a large amount of power within the organizational structure. This authority is further strengthened by their ability to counteract their commanding officer on matters of Faith and ideology. This power is best used sparingly, as Ideology Officers will be expected to convince specially appointed members of the Ordained Ascended as to the validity of their decision, with those failing to make a sufficient case against their superior instead facing severe reprimands or worse. Likewise, their superior is granted the authority to override the Ideology Officer's judgment if they can sufficiently prove a detrimental effect on their unit's primary functions and operating orders, again subject to approval after the fact by the same review board of Ordained Ascended. Unit commanders and Ideology Officers typically prefer to maintain a cordial relationship as a result, negotiating their case to the other in an effort to find a mutually satisfactory resolution to the issues at hand.
