Asterarcana
Asterarcana includes all Magic written into the fabric of Vazdimet itself. These spells also require manipulation of the matching magic field, but as the fields are found everywhere, this poses little trouble for the casting mage.
Utility
Asterarcana currently encompasses five separate classifications, each one permitting manipulation or understanding of a natural law of the universe.
Some believe it was the overuse of these magic classes after the War for Enlightenment which led to the years of unstable magic, resulting in the Great Separation. By this theory, the spells locked away in the Golding Library were hidden to protect the very fabric of the universe.
Others argue against this hypothesis, claiming that the ability to tap into the foundations of the universe and alter them at will was literally built into the inner workings of Magic, and if it wasn't meant to be done, mages would experience the repercussions each time they cast their spells.
Portal Magic
Portal Magic allows for near-instantaneous Portal Travel between locations. These spells were the most affected by the Great Separation, with lower possible ranges and newfound requirements for detailed knowledge of the destination's exact coordinates with relation to the caster's current location.Necromancy
Necromancy is the domain of the Afterlife and the soul, including spells to manipulate the spiritual vibrations of objects and people to pass through The Veil, bend the fabric of the mortal plane around the higher dimensions, or even bind souls to objects or agreements.Chronomancy
Chronomancy is the magic of time manipulation. While time itself will also move forward, the rate at which that movement occurs is readily manipulated by a skilled chronomantic mage.Divination
Divination is a fickle magic, its spells centered around knowledge and the truth. Its most powerful spells remain just as likely to mislead as to provide an answer, despite the funding and research poured into projects intent on improving accuracy.Telekinesis
Telekinesis revolves around gravity and spatial positioning, allowing the caster to freeze their target in space, hurl things at remarkable speeds, or manipulate local gravity wells.
