Geomancy

Historical texts salvaged from the Golding Library speak of a ground-based magic, now lost to science. Rumored capabilities include sensing planets' internal forces and plate tectonics, locating precious gems and metals, and even borrowing the strength of mountains.  

The Geomancy Debate

Much geomantic debate between arcanologists centers on whether or not Geomancy was a true magic, or merely a superstitious attempt to explain away natural disasters. Proponents of the magic argue the frequent references to "Metalmancy" - now called Ferromancy - in metalworking texts shows definitive proof of the magic's historical prevalence. Others claim Ferromancy a different lost magic entirely, or even an attempt to explain the non-arcana skills of material science and alloy creation, with no relevance to Geomancy and the mysteries surrounding it.
