Discussion Board Rules

The Vazdimet Discussion Board Rules were Last Updated October 23, 2023   Thanks for participating in our Community! To ensure the best possible experience for all members, we have established some basic guidelines for participation.   By using the Vazdimet Discussion Boards, you agree that you have read and will follow the rules and guidelines detailed below. You furthermore agree to abide by the terms of the Fan Content Policy. (This includes some important information about Vazdimet Studios' rights regarding your posts in the roleplay section of the Boards. In order to allow our community to influence the events and direction of Vazdimet, we require the rights to either include or reference the events from any noteworthy posts from our community. These rules are set up to protect both you and Vazdimet Studios, so we can all continue to enjoy and build upon the Vazdimet universe). We will periodically update these rules as we deem decessary; continued use of the Discussion Boards implies acceptance with the current set of rules.   Please take a moment to review these important guidelines. To preserve a climate that encourages both civil and fruitful interaction, Vazdimet Studios reserves the right to revoke access to the Boards for those who violate these rules. We and our Moderators also reserve the right to delete messages, especially if they violate these Rules.

Discussion Board Rules

  1. Treat other Community members with respect.
This should go without saying, but treat others like you would like to be treated! Everyone is entitled to the level of respect they are willing to grant to others. Insulting and flaming or personal attacks against forum members or staff will not be tolerated.
  2.
  3. Please do not spam.
The definition of spam is an irrelevant or advertising post. Any post considered spam will be removed.
  4.
  5. Please be considerate in the language you use on the forum.
We'd like this to be as welcoming a community as we can. The writings of Vazdimet do cover adult topics, and as such, swearing is not banned, but please use some thought in your word choices. Slurs and derogatory language (outside of those specific to the fictional universe of Vazdimet) are not permitted.   If you'd like to use in-universe swears, feel free to refer to Swears and Slang for suggestions.
  6.
  7. Use spoilers and content warnings when applicable.
You can add a Spoiler code with the following:
    [spoiler]Text to be spoilered.|Name of Spoiler Button[/spoiler]
This is useful when discussing book spoilers, difficult topics, or even if making long posts.   For delicate topics which may cause distress to others, Spoiler tags and content warnings are required, to allow other members of the Community determine whether or not to engage with the topic.   A list of other potential BBCode available on the Boards is available here. Note: Not all are applicable.
  8.
  9. Please do not post inappropriate or harmful material.
This includes (but is not limited to) all defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials and posts. Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, ageist, or harassing behaviour and speech. This Community is built on respect, and we will not tolerate bullies.
  10.
  11. Use useful thread topics.
The title of your thread should provide some insight as to its contents, so forum members may easily determine the types of conversation or information included within your post. Threads with misleading or no-content titles may be deleted.   If you are contributing to a thread, please keep your postings on topic in accordance with the topic title and original post. If a new topic emerges, start a new thread.
  12.
  13. Follow any forum-specific rules
Before posting in a forum, check to see if there are any "sticky" posts at the top that contain rules of guidelines specific to that forum.
  14.
  15. Follow the spirit and intent of the rules.
Just because the rules don't explicitly forbid something doesn't mean it's okay. If it feels like it shouldn't be allowed, either don't do it or ask the Moderation Team. We and our Moderators reserve the right to revoke access to the Discussion Board at any time, for any reason.
Please Note: We all miss social cues sometimes. This rule isn't meant to punish those earnestly participating in our community, but to give Vazdimet Studios and our Moderation Team the authority to act against those attempting to harm it, even when the rules don't explicitly condemn their actions.
These rules are in place to ensure our community is a fun place to be, and a comfortable atmosphere for all. We're so happy to have you in our Community!

Rules for Vazdimet Roleplay

This service is provided as an opportunity to interact with the characters and authors of Vazdimet. Participation in this feature implies agreement with the board rules of conduct and participation, and grants Vazdimet Studios rights to reference, repost, and edit the contents within in accordance with the Vazdimet Studios Fan Content Policy.   Participation in the Vazdimet Discussion Boards is free with any (also free) WorldAnvil account, although subscribers are permitted to create their own character to play within the universe. Please see Guest Characters and Support Vazdimet for further details.
  1. Maintain healthy boundaries between IC and OOC.
In Character and Out Of Character are not the same. Users are not their characters, and characters are not their players. Likewise, your characters are not you. (Unless you want them to be!) This also applies to those using their WorldAnvil acount, rather than posting as a character.   This means each character's gender, belief, and actions do not necessarily align with those of their player. Stories are born of conflict. Villains are welcome, provided their players follow the Rules.
  2.
  3. Treat other Community members with respect.
This bears repeating. While roleplay by its nature will often involve conflict, please respect the agency and comfort levels of other Community members. There is a different between making a player's character uncomfortable, versus the player themself. If there's something you'd like to cover in the roleplay which may be a difficult topic, ask. When in doubt, talk it out.
  4.
  5. Respect the Community's fun.
Before joining a thread, please take the time to read the thread topic and any provided guidelines, and consider whether or not your envisioned character fits the conversation. If not, find another, or start your own.
  6.
  7. This is not a dating site.
Again, In Character and Out Of Character are not the same thing. While romance RP is allowed, using the Boards with an expectation of a romantic or sexual meet-up is not.   Please ensure all romance RP follows our Rules, including legality and consent from all participants. If you discover your RP is heading in a direction you feel is inappropriate for the public areas of the site, you can also request we move your thread to an 18+ forum and pick up the subscriber group below:
By clicking this link you certify that you are over 18. This group unlocks an assortment of 18+ content across the site, including in the Timelines.
  8.
  9. Respect the setting and topic of the roleplay.
Don't post in a thread merely to disrupt it. Respect the current thread of the story and find a way to fit within in.   This also includes posting outside of locations where a character might logically be found, either in the public faction channels or in private ones unlocked throughout the course of gameplay. If you wish to participate in a thread outside of the realm of your existing character(s), especially Guest Characters, you will need to create a new one.   Please note that non-character WorldAnvil accounts by themselves are considered faction agnostic. In these cases it is the content of the post which determines the character and faction, if one is even required. Generic style posts in threads which suit that purpose, such as "What is your favorite color?" in an AMA thread, do not convey or require factional information, and are therefore exempt from these concerns.
  10.
  11. Avoid unnecessarily inflammatory topics and scenes.
While Vazdimet Studios encourages the exploration of difficult topics, we will not tolerate attempts to skirt our rules for an inclusive and supportive Community under the excuse of "It's just a game!" Roleplay is welcome to examine challenging topics such as violence and discrimination - in the words of Jake, "The difficult conversations are the ones most worth having" - but Vazdimet Studios and the Moderation Team reserve the right to address posts and posters we feel are reveling in the resultant suffering.
  12.
  13. Don't be the reason we need to make a new rule.
Just because the rules don't explicitly disallow something doesn't mean it's okay. Keep the spirit of the rules in mind, not just the words.
These Rules have been crafted to encourage a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable experience for our Community. Please feel free to post in the comments below with any additional requests for clarification. It is also recommended you read Vazdimet Studios' Fan Content Policy for additional information.
