Legion Interrogation Code
While recognized by the Space Defense Legion's Ministry of Interrogation as the official silent communication of Interrogators, in actuality the Interrogation Code is utilized solely by its creator, Senior Interrogator Zeke Cantrell.
Preferred Option: Implant
Legion Interrogators are each fitted with an electronic communication implant which interfaces directly with their thoughts, allowing for the sending of encrypted messages and even subvocalized communications without fear of their subjects overhearing or intercepting these messages. The surgery to install these devices and integrate them with the Interrogator's thought functions relies heavily on Curative Magic in addition to the Legion's usual non-magical medical practices.Disadvantages of Implants
The surgery therefore carries a higher risk for Zeke due to his Immunity to magic. Furthermore, Zeke’s status as an Asset of the Legion grants the Program full authority over Zeke’s medical care. This has restricted his options for non-essential medical procedures, particularly those relying heavily on magic to protect the patient. This has required Zeke to rely upon an external earpiece to receive information from the on-duty tech in the Interrogation Control Room, with no easy way to send outgoing messages without his Interrogation subject overhearing.Creation of the Interrogation Code
In response, Zeke crafted his own secret language of basic requests and phrases, relying on well-timed body language cues. The language is simple and somewhat crude, but was designed for easy interpretation by any tech regardless of their familiarity with Zeke, translated from a short list retained in the interrogation database.<“It’s warning you it won’t give you anything useful,”> Aleena grumbled. Zeke acknowledged her concerns by scratching the back of his neck. <“Just don’t blame me if your experiment doesn’t work,”> she conceded. <“You’re asking me to give up information about my team, and we don’t even know what you’ll get in return. I don’t like this. What if it gets loose and goes after them?”> Zeke shifted uncomfortably in his seat at the reminder of The Jarkin Incident, leaving Aleena to grapple with the guilt of bringing it up in the first place. But he knew the risks. He’d experienced them himself. She wasn’t about to allow him to place her team in the same position unless he acknowledged that. He settled after a moment, and scratched his leg. <“Yes, I do trust you.”> She sighed. <“Fine. Make your deal.”>
