Munokkael

"Have a seat, Munokkael. Make yourself comfortable." Shane raised an eyebrow, his words part threat, part promise. "You're going to be here for a while."   Auren eyed the chair, hovering beside it nervously but not sitting. "What does Munno-kale mean?"   Shane smirked. "All in due time. I need to call you something, and you haven't told me your name."
Morjakk for both "The Hunter" and "The Hunted," those addressed as Munokkael have been identified as potential recruits into the Mordena. The title is typically only stated privately to the potential new recruit, or occasionally in the presence of other Mordena. A Munokkael will not be told the meaning of the title they've seemingly acquired until their recruiter feels confident about the final success of their recruitment efforts.

History

Senior Captain Haveid was the first Munokkael, receiving the title directly from Janikk herself as a result of their initial actions on the planet diverting and then befriending a pack of fylox. The nickname stuck and became a tradition, first from Shane Lawrence's use referring to those currently experiencing his full attentions, and then later from other Mordena as they followed their founder's example.

Usage

The title is typically used early in the interview process when reviewing potential recruits, regardless of whether or not they are aware an interview is taking place. Often the Munokkael's reaction to the title is used as part of the evaluation process, although the "correct" response in this case largely depends upon the interviewer.   Those who successfully pass their interview and decide to proceed with Joining the Mordena will learn the meaning of the name, before undergoing the rituals to earn the title of Morjakkael, and a warm welcome into their new life as a child of Janikk.
She tore her eyes away from the sunset to look at him. "So 'Munokkael' means 'not a Mordena'?"   "That's redistael. Outsider. Munokkael means 'future Mordena.'" He chuckled. "Or, more literally, 'The Hunted Hunter.' You've seen Janikk, you understand."
