Officers' Mess AB
Originally reserved for commissioned Sparnelli officers only, the Ambition's Officer's Mess has since been opened to all Mordena and their guests aboard the diplomatic Destroyer. Most aboard the ship prefer to eat in the primary Mess Hall, which serves a larger variety of food at all hours, and an opportunity for mingling with their fellow shipmates. The Officer's Mess by contrast is utilized by those who wish to be left alone during meals, most commonly due to bringing their work with them. Most of the foods served in the Officer's Mess are also designed for convenience in handling and eating, allowing those on duty to grab a quick bite to bring back to their posts if necessary.
Contents & Furnishings
Unlike the primary Mess Hall, the Officer's Mess contains an assortment of smaller tables and eating nooks built for anywhere from one to four people. Most of the tables are fixed to the deck and cannot be moved.
A small buffet lines one wall, only half of it equipped to display warm food, the rest containing packaged snacks. Available drinks range from cold juice to warm coffee, as well as both temperatures of water. Everything is carefully selected for convenience and ease of consumption, as well as safety if left sitting out untended for several hours.
Reaching their destination, Felix led Lira into the officer's mess, a much smaller space than the main dining area. The few people scattered about the room kept their eyes on their food and their work as they entered. There was less food on offer here, and simpler fare, made to be eaten quickly or on the go with little mess. The smells nonetheless made Felix's mouth water, particularly the meat bread freshly imported from Janikk that morning.
Oooo you know, I never thought of going into detail about such small things and it's actually awesome to see. I really like the idea of a more private place to eat and it makes sense to open it up on a diplomatic vessel.
