Janikk Wildlife Society

The Janikk Wildlife Society includes members from all knowledge and skill levels. As a whole, the organization is considered the foremost experts on the wildlife of Janikk, complete with a frequently updated database of knowledge and a collection of annual publications. Their most notable offering is entitled The Wondrous World of Janikk Wildlife, a reader-friendly collection of basic facts and survival techniques for a large array of Janikk's wildlife.

Structure

The Society holds little structure, outside the formal editorial staff responsible for editing and formalizing all submissions for its various publications. The full list of creatures is maintained on a digital database, open to carefully-tracked edits from all members, which is then further formatted for each annual release.   Any member is welcome to call a meeting, whether for general purpose networking or a deeper discussion on a specific topic or creature. These meetings are also published in the database, complete with agendas, host, and location, plus meeting minutes once the gathering is complete.

Public Agenda

The Janikk Wildlife Society strives to understand the wilds of Janikk and the creatures who call her home. Scientific study, exploration, research, and education of the Jannadael all fall under their purview.   They also publish annual updates to their guide books, including the ever-popular Wondrous World of Janikk Wildlife.

History

In the early days of the Mordena's arrival at Janikk, an anonymous member of the Turncoat Armada wrote a short, humorous pamphlet entitled The Wondrous World of Janikk Wildlife: And All the Ways It Can Kill You. Written as a lighthearted animal-centric spoof of Urla's A Beginner's Guide to the Plants of Janikk, the pamphlet managed to capture the attention and creativity of many in the fleet, gaining new chapters and appendices with each amateurish reprinting.   Within months the humorous pamphlet had gained a following, then an editorial staff. Within a year this growing society had released a second edition, a fact-checked version of the original complete with illustrations of each included animal. The year after, a detailed companion guide to fylox, written by Senior Captain Haveid themself, accompanied the third edition, which was prefaced with a foreward by none other than Urla herself.   The organization behind the publications grew alongside their expanding understanding of their new home, calling themselves the Janikk Wildlife Society. Membership was open to all Mordena with a genuine interest in and respect for the life on Janikk. Grand Navarch Shane Lawrence encouraged this interest, personally inviting Janikk to many of the knowledge-sharing meetings until the JWS attracted several necromancers of their own.   Today the JWS serves as a catch all organization for everyone working with the planet's creatures, from researchers and explorers, to Jorrael and Vemajorrael, to farmers and animal handlers.

We are all children of Janikk.

Oh, you would love Janikk. I mean, you'd have to know how to defend yourself from errant wildlife, but the Jannadael have a great respect for their planet.
