Grand Armada Lighting Key

The passageways of most Mordena capital ships are painted a stark white, with special lighting fitted to change the coloration of the bulkheads at will. These colors provide information to any guest and crewmember as to the current status of the ship or even that specific section of passageway.

Watch

The most common colorations reveal the current Watch, while the colors selected are meant to be soothing and reminiscent of home. Watch colors are the default bulkhead coloration, but will be superceded by any event or warning color.
  • Light Blue - First Watch
  • Light Green - Second Watch
  • Light Orange - Third Watch
  • Light Purple - Forth Watch

Call to Stations

Certain shipwide events require special behaviors and attentions from the crew. These are accompanied by passageway colors to alert all available personnel of any special duties required in support of the event. These colorations are projected on all passageways shipwide, and override the Watch colors.   Deep Purple - Denotes when the ship is engaged in battle, alerting crew to report to their battle stations for duty.   Deep Blue - Declares the ship is preparing to Hyperjump, requiring crew members to verify all cargo and personal items are properly stowed, and all personnel stationary. This is also accompanied by a shipwide countdown to the estimated jump time.

Warnings

Warning colors are applied to specific passageways only, and override all other colors. They consist of yellows and reds in varying intensities.   Light Yellow - Passageway and its surroundings has not yet been checked for damage after a battle or other potentially damaging event, but there are no known alerts about the area so it's probably okay.   Deep Yellow - Passageway or something local to the passageway had been damaged and requires repairs, but the issue is low priority and not serious and therefore not a top priority.   Light Red - Passageway and surrounding are restricted to authorized personnel only.   Deep Red - Passageway or surrounding area has been severely damaged or contains a danger. Only those assigned to fix the problem should enter the area.

All they have is time.

Killing her would solve most of his problems.

But it wouldn’t solve any of the problems that mattered. That was the trouble with immortality, after all. With an eternity before him, everything else became inconsequential.

Everything but her.

I never thought I'd say this, but the corridor lighting is my current Vazdimet obsession! XD

Omg yesss! I love this! It's an often overlooked element of scifi but it matters so much and has real life analogues in naval ships, if I remember right. Well done. The only comment I can make is the deep vs light colors. Is their a test to verify if a crewman is capable of easily telling the difference? Like in sure they have eye exams, but what about colorblindness? Having two shades of the same color can lead to struggles for colorblind people. My old boss often couldnt tell the subtle difference between a dark and light shade of the same color of paint for example. He needed me to determine if the paint matched. I'm wondering if their are ways to handle that so there is no confusion, ornpossibly implants/medical treatments for the colorblind. It's not a huge deal by any means. I just noticed the colors were different shades and the gears started turning, so you can easily just consider this part of the comment mad rambling and move on since nothing's really wrong. XD well done as always. Seriously, I love that you tackled this.

The Mordena are rather magically inclined, and there's a whole section of magic devoted to vision, so they'd probably make sure anyone with vision issues of any variety did know that magic. I will have to think of what else they would do though, because I'm sure they'd do more.   So excited you enjoyed!

I love this, it makes who's on watch, or general/special announcements so visible at all times. Great idea and great work on this article!
