Amphibious. The Dreadscale can breathe air and water.   Swamp Camouflage. The Dreadscale has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks made to hide in swampy terrain.

Actions

Multiattack. The Dreadscale makes two attacks: one with its Bite and one with its Tongue Lash.   Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 17 (2d10 + 4) piercing damage.   Tongue Lash. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d10 + 4) bludgeoning damage, and the target is then grappled (escape DC 14). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained, and the Dreadscale cannot use its Tongue Lash on another target.   Poison Exhalation (Recharge 5–6). The Dreadscale exhales a cloud of toxic gas in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 14 Constitution saving throw, taking 21 (6d6) poison damage and have the poisoned condition on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one and no poisoned condition.

The Dreadscale is a monstrous hybrid of tortoise and toad, perfectly adapted to its dark, swampy habitat. Its jagged black scales, long prehensile tongue, and venomous breath make it a deadly predator. While it lacks intelligence, it is a cunning ambush hunter, using its camouflage to strike unwary prey. The toxic aura it emanates makes it a persistent threat to those foolish enough to venture too close.
