Special Abilities

The Ancient Sheep Dragon has the following special abilities:
  • Cloud Walker. The dragon can treat any cloud, fog, or mist as solid ground, allowing it to move and rest upon the sky itself.
  • Dream Weaver. Any creature that sleeps within 1 mile of the dragon may experience prophetic dreams or visions influenced by the dragon’s subconscious.
  • Storm Veil. When the dragon is within heavy clouds or magical mist, it has resistance to all damage except force, psychic, and radiant.

  • Actions

Multiattack. The Ancient Sheep Dragon makes three attacks: one with its bite, one with its claw, and one with its tail.

  • Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +16 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 36 (4d10 + 9) piercing damage.
  • Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +16 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 30 (4d8 + 9) slashing damage.
  • Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +16 to hit, reach 20 ft., one target. Hit: 28 (4d10 + 9) bludgeoning damage.
  • Breath Weapons (Recharge 5-6)

The Sheep Dragon uses one of the following breath weapons:
  • Cloud Feast. The dragon exhales a thick mist in a 120 ft. radius, granting the effects of Heroes' Feast for 1 hour.
  • Sleepy Mist. The dragon exhales a sedative cloud in a 90 ft. cone. Creatures must make a DC 22 Wisdom saving throw or fall asleep for 1 minute.
  • Divine Tempest Breath. The dragon releases a thunderous explosion in a 120 ft. line (20 ft. wide). Creatures in the area must make a DC 22 Constitution saving throw, taking 14d8 thunder and 8d8 lightning damage on a failed save.
  • Storm Wool Breath. The dragon releases charged wool fibers in a 60 ft. cone. Creatures must make a DC 22 Strength saving throw or be restrained for 1 minute. If struck by lightning, the wool ignites, dealing 6d6 lightning damage to restrained creatures.

  • Bonus Actions

The Ancient Sheep Dragon can make the following bonus actions:

  • Drifting Form. The dragon partially merges with the mist, gaining resistance to non-magical damage until the start of its next turn.
  • Static Charge. The dragon builds up electrical energy, causing its next melee weapon attack to deal an extra 4d8 lightning damage.
  • Puff Up. The dragon fluffs up its wool, imposing disadvantage on the next melee attack made against it before the start of its next turn.
  • Soothing Breeze. The dragon exhales a calming mist in a 20 ft. radius. Up to four creatures within the area each regain 4d8 + 8 hit points and have advantage on their next Wisdom saving throw before the end of their next turn.
  • Cloud Step. The dragon momentarily becomes part of the mist, teleporting up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space it can see.

  • Reactions

The Ancient Sheep Dragon can make the following reactions:

  • Storm Fur. When hit by a melee attack, the dragon can use its reaction to discharge static energy. The attacker must make a DC 22 Dexterity saving throw or take 6d8 lightning damage and be unable to take reactions until the start of their next turn.
  • Woolen Resilience. When the dragon is targeted by an attack, it can use its reaction to temporarily harden its wool, granting itself resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from non-magical weapons until the start of its next turn.

  • Legendary Actions

The Ancient Sheep Dragon can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn.

  • Gale Wings. The dragon flaps its wings, creating a strong wind. Each creature within 30 feet must make a DC 22 Strength saving throw or be pushed 40 ft. back and knocked prone.
  • Soothing Hum. The dragon hums a deep, reverberating sound. One creature within 60 feet must make a DC 22 Wisdom saving throw or become charmed for 1 minute.
  • Cloud Step. The dragon momentarily becomes part of the clouds, teleporting up to 120 feet to an unoccupied space it can see.

  • Lair Actions

The Ancient Sheep Dragon can use the following lair actions:

  • Roiling Mists. The lair fills with thick clouds, heavily obscuring all vision beyond 10 feet for 1 minute.
  • Storm Pulse. A bolt of lightning arcs from the clouds, striking a creature within 120 feet. The target must make a DC 22 Dexterity saving throw or take 6d10 lightning damage.
  • Ethereal Winds. The dragon summons powerful currents, causing creatures of the dragon’s choice within 60 feet to be lifted 30 feet into the air. They descend slowly at the start of their next turn.

  • Ancient Sheep Dragons make their lairs high in the sky, resting upon vast floating cloud formations imbued with their magic. Their presence warps the environment, causing the clouds to remain solid beneath their feet and forming ethereal pathways between the skies. These lairs are shrouded in perpetual mist, obscuring vision and muffling sounds. Lightning flickers harmlessly across their woolen nests, and those who rest here find themselves slipping into deep, dreamless sleep.

    Regional Effects

The region surrounding an Ancient Sheep Dragon’s lair is altered by its presence:

  • The skies within 10 miles of the dragon’s lair are perpetually misty, with clouds forming dense and shifting pathways.
  • Creatures within 5 miles of the lair experience unnaturally vivid dreams, sometimes gaining cryptic omens or insights.
  • Rainstorms in the area have increased lightning activity, and creatures struck by lightning regain 1d8 hit points instead of taking damage unless the dragon wills otherwise. However, the dragon's wool is darkened, creatures struck by lightning will take 6d8 lightning damage.

  • Ancient Sheep Dragons are legends of the skies, their massive wool-covered forms blending seamlessly with the clouds. They radiate an aura of peace, yet their power is undeniable. When angered, their wool darkens like a brewing storm, and they become forces of nature, capable of shaping weather, controlling dreams, and unleashing devastating tempests. They spend most of their lives in slumber, but when they wake, their presence can shift the balance of entire regions.
